Fins for Limbs

“Fins for Limbs” was founded in honor of Veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) who have suffered combat-related injuries resulting in an amputation or other life-changing disabilities through direct contributions to their pre-approved, selected and certified Veterans service and support organizations, such as The Wounded Warrior Project. Led by a Veterans-only executive board with honorable service records during combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, the organization is also guided by a council of Veteran Advocates, to include industry leaders from the private sector, elected congressional, state and local officials, The Clearwater Marine Aquarium, a dolphin named “Winter,” and Meritorious Corporate Partners (MCP).

Mission

“Fins for Limbs” will appropriately identify OIF/OEF Veterans, as well as their support and service programs through our partners, and focus funds directly to those who have suffered a combat-related amputation or other life-changing disability. As a nation, we committed publicly to never allow our Disabled Veterans to fall into the forgotten isles of society as we had during the fallout of the Post- Vietnam War era, resulting in staggering rates of homelessness, suicides and drug abuse among those returning from combat operations, with the effects still lingering and apparent. Today, our collective fear as a nation, reinforced by current economic conditions and a global economy, makes this urgent matter a horrible reality, yet again. "Fins for Limbs" is an event focussed on raising awareness of OIF/OEF Veterans issues, empowering the individual Veteran, and as a collective advocacy, ensuring we are all supporting a movement that will make a difference immediately, ultimately shaping the future and writing history.

Centurion Strategies and the 2010 Fins for Limbs Executive Board of Veterans would like to thank all of our sponsors, attendees and friends who showed their support for our nation's Wounded Warriors!

Funds raised will support the following Wounded Warrior Project programs:

  • The Wounded Warrior field services network via eleven (11) $20 Target Gift Cards
  • The Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project and other Veteran-amputee outdoor programs with $986

"There are those who speak about you who say, 'he lost an arm, he lost a leg, she lost her sight.' I object. You gave your arm; you gave your leg; you gave your sight as gifts to your nation, that we might live in freedom. Thank you. And to your families, families of the fallen, and families of the wounded, you sacrificed in ways that those of us who have not walked in your shoes can only imagine." -General Peter M. Pace
